Ben Butling is a Trends Analyst and Academic Consultant in London. By profession, he conducts analysis of news, published research, and consumer data from around the world. He writes strategic reports, blogs and presentations to help clients better understand their consumers, and the commercial world around them.

Academic Experience

Butling holds a first-class BA in Fashion Communication and a distinction-level MA in Global Fashion Retailing from LCF's Fashion Business School. 

 

In his study, he gained theoretical and applied knowledge in Retail Management, Brand Identity and Value Enhancement, Creative Retail Futures, Supply Chain Operations, Retail Globalisation, Market Expansion Opportunities and Strategic Business Development.

Research Focus

Butling is a multi-method qualitative researcher, specialising in servicescape and retail experience theory, particularly sensorial, restorative and experiential fields.

 

His thesis was one of the first to explore restorative experiences in the context of fashion retail servicescapes, and the effects of enhancing consumer well-being on brand experience.

 

The research received the highest grading of A+.

Publishing

Butling has published a variety of written assets from business reports, trend decks, insight blogs and academic case studies. He has worked on contributions to internationally renowned platforms, such as his recent case study for Bloomsbury Fashion Business Cases, co-authored with Dr Bethan Alexander. He is also working on further case studies aimed to support students learning about retail experience. 

 

Outside of written work, Butling also attended the World Retail Congress in 2022, delivering a creative strategy and business plan for CEO's and a variety of high-profile executives in the context of future sustainable retail practise.
